HISTORY – TELESCOPES TO THE FUTURE

Nowadays if you read interviews of any top business people in any news media you will invariably see a question that asks which book they recently read or are currently reading. And their obvious answers will be the names of some new fangled management book like why the moon is still round while the earth is going flat or the fifteenth leadership habit of a maverick, or some new cutting edge book about managing people, or even some fancy novel. But you will never hear any businessman say they are reading an ordinary book like a medieval or ancient history textbook. HOW NIGERIAN LEADERS TRY TO RE-WRITE, KILL HISTORY AND REMOVING IT FROM SCHOOL CURRICULUM FOR SELFISH REASONS

It is indeed nothing but the truth that Nigeria’s past and present dictators are regrettably attempting to rewrite History. Nigeria’s former dictators have continued to show hatred for both the oral and written aspect of History and basically try to wish it all away by rewriting the history of the country and their deeds either in the past or present. VICTOR OZORKA: CAN YOU RE-WRITE THE HISTORY OF MY PEOPLE, ANIOMA PEOPLE?

Recently, a certain uncomprehending Victor Ozorka whom I can best describe as a faceless individual has been surfing the internet, digging out histories of peoples he wishfully thinks have descended from or should trace their ancestries to the Igbo race. He does this with so much uncomplimentary commentaries that he does not see beyond realities, or at least recognize that a people are regarded as what they say they are and what they want be, and that the history of any people(s) are derived from their oral traditions, legends, folklores mythologies etc. I do not know his educational background of this faceless Victor Ozorka nor his educational discipline but he has not sounded like a historian, or as a courteous human.To drive this justification home, I have hereunder reproduced his comment posted on an article written ... [more..]
